Project Details
In May 2025, Isaac Regional Council (IRC) awarded GE Maintenance Solutions (GEMS) the contract for Wastewater Treatment Plant Inlet Screen Maintenance. This ongoing project covers multiple facilities across the Isaac region, ensuring the first line of defence in wastewater treatment continues to operate reliably.
The sites included under this contract are:
- Glenden WWTP
- Nebo WWTP
- Middlemount WWTP
- Dysart WWTP
- Clermont WWTP
- Moranbah WWTP
Planning the Approach
Every inlet screen plays a critical role in protecting downstream processes. GEMS personnel travelled to each treatment plant to inspect the inlets and screens and then prepared detailed service reports for each site. These reports outlined the condition of the equipment and provided recommendations for upgrades and repairs tailored to each location.
For a recent example of our inlet screen work, see the Proserpine Inlet Screen Overhauls project.
The Maintenance Works
As part of the first round of works, GEMS completed critical repairs at Clermont WWTP’s inlet screen, restoring screening performance and extending asset life. Similar servicing and repairs are planned across the remaining facilities under the contract.
By combining inspection, reporting, and hands-on maintenance, GEMS is helping IRC build a clear picture of asset condition while ensuring immediate operational issues are resolved.
Delivering Results
This regional contract demonstrates GEMS’ capability to manage multiple wastewater treatment plants across a broad geographic area. Key outcomes for IRC include:
- Improved equipment reliability
- Reduced risk of unplanned failures
- Better-informed maintenance planning through detailed reports
- Extended lifespan of inlet screens across all sites

Why This Matters
Wastewater treatment infrastructure often goes unnoticed — until it stops working. By proactively inspecting and maintaining inlet screens across Glenden, Nebo, Middlemount, Dysart, Clermont, and Moranbah, GEMS is ensuring the plants continue to operate safely and efficiently, protecting both the environment and community health.
To understand why inlet screening is vital, visit the Queensland Government Water and Wastewater Services page for more context on managing essential water infrastructure.

From careful planning to hands-on execution, this project shows how GEMS delivers more than maintenance — we deliver solutions that keep Queensland’s essential infrastructure moving.
